Welcome
to Bahia

With a population of over 2.8 million people, the largest city
near our lovely b&b mansion offers the area traveler a
cultural treat that sure to satisfy any ones appetite.
Salvador, Bahia (often reduced to the name, Bahia by the
Brazilians) is an area filled with loads of recreational
activities, great food, music, folk art and an excellent
historic district that would thrill any preservation
architect. The surrounding areas can be enjoyed by back
packers, Capoeira enthusiast and epicureans alike. Salvador
also has an emerging
Carnaval (Carnival) celebration with an
estimated 1.5 million participants that rivals the one in Rio
de Janeiro in size as well as entertainment.
We hope that you use your time with us as an opportunity to
explore this exciting country as well as relax on one of the
many beaches that envelop the area.
Beautiful Beaches
It’s hard to drive for more
than an half mile without seeing one of the areas lovely beach’s.
Not only is the mansion walking distance from Ayoda-Yemanja
Beach, but many others are within miles away.
While you are
near one of the sweeping beaches, take a boat ride adventure to
one of the lesser known islands and bask in the sun. These boat
tours are less traveled by tourist but a great find for those in
the know.
Surfing and Snorkeling

Another
option would be to spend the morning ridding the great rushing
waves of the mesmerizing blue ocean. Surfers are now finding
that the lesser known beaches of Brazil provide ultimate
rushes with waves that are not unlike there infamous Hawaiian
counter parts. Extreme surfing is the sport of choice around
these areas. Many surfing schools that cater exclusively to
this thrilling activity can be found near by. Wind and kite
surfing are also popular choices.
Some of the
greatest snorkeling and scuba diving in the world can also be
found in Bahia. Please ask the bed and breakfast manager for
more details about near by activities that include your
specific area of interest.
Hiking and Backpacking
A few more
activities enjoyed by the tourist community include hiking and
back packing. Casa de Prince often has travelers that stop by
for a few days while on there way to the Amazon or mountain
regions. Those that stay with us often prefer luxury and
comfort before roughing it in areas where amenities maybe sparse
and few. Who would not mind spending a lazy day relaxing after a
long hike in one of our hammock attached rooms?
Local Cuisine
After a long
afternoon of wave surfing, or caching some sun out on our deck,
you have many options that will entertain you throughout the
night in this area. Experience the local nightlife filled with
Samba dancing to the latest Afro Latin Music, Salvadorian
cuisine and nice cold drinks. The alcoholic drink Caipirinhas,
is a favorite of locals and tourist alike. The Bahia area also
has some of the best food I've ever tasted. It reminds me of
the Cajun/Creole food of my own ancestors. It's a little spicy
and filled with lots of fresh seafood, veggies and rice.
Bahia Historic District

An adventurous
stay in the Bahia area would not be complete without
traveling to
one of the many historic districts in this area.
There you will
find shops were you can bargain for local
jewelry (love the loose stones I’ve bought in the area) and some
amazing folk art work sold by its original artisans.
The historic
districts are also home to 17 century
colonial homes and churches
that stretch out through most of the area. One particular area,
Pelourinho, has great shopping, dinning and also Capoeira!
Capoeira martial arts practitioners

Capoeira
martial arts practitioners will performing right in front on you
to the funky beat of Afro-Brazilian music that’s unique to this
particular area. Viewing this African martial arts turned modern
day dance, will be as entertaining as anything you have ever
seen. For a very small fee, you can take a picture underneath
the legs of a few of the guys in a pyramid type stance.
